Chandigarh : Haryana’s Chief Electoral Officer, Sh. Pankaj Agarwal has announced that for the Haryana Assembly elections scheduled to be held on October 5, there are a total of 1031 candidates. Among them, 930 are men and 101 are women.
He further informed that out of these candidates, 462 are independent. This includes 421 men and 41 women.
Voting for the 90-member Haryana legislative assembly will be held on October 5, with the last date for filing nominations being September 12. The counting of votes will take place on October 8.
In the 2019 assembly polls, the BJP emerged as the single largest party with 40 seats, while Congress secured 30 seats.
