New Delhi : Multiple cracks were observed on the iconic Taj Mahal after incessant rain in Agra. Videos being circulated on social media showed cracks on the walls, floor, and other important parts of the Taj Mahal.
An another video shows plant sprouting out of the Taj Mahal, as per sources while speaking about the issue, Archaeological of India’s Superintendent of Agra Circle Rajkumar Patel said that plants tend to grow on the corners of every monument, and they are duly removed with “root killer and pesticides” within eight to ten days.
“Not just the Taj Mahal, in all the joints of the monuments dust settles, there is contact with water, birds also sit there. In all the monuments you will notice the cases of plants growing out. The leaves must be removed when they are around 5-8 cm. If the plants grow then their roots will penetrate and the monuments will be damaged. So plants do come out and within 8-10 days we remove them. We then put the root killer and pesticides and we do the pointing again,” Patel said.
