Politics should be a fair and friendly not war: Prem Garg

The Aman Sandesh Times

Panchkula : Panchkula, Senior Aam Aadmi Party leader **Prem Garg* has announced that the *Jhuriwala dumping site* in Panchkula will be eliminated, and the city’s waste will be turned into a *source of revenue. Garg stated that a daily output of 100 to 200 tons of waste will be managed so efficiently that Panchkula will soon emerge as a **zero-landfill city*, where waste heaps will be replaced by cleanliness and prosperity.
*Revenue from Organic Fertilizer and Dry Waste:*
Prem Garg explained that under *solid waste management, a modern waste disposal plant will be set up. This plant will convert **wet waste* into organic fertilizer, which will be supplied to the *Tricity* and surrounding areas. Additionally, *dry waste* will be recycled, generating extra revenue for the municipal corporation. This process will not only ensure *eco-friendly* waste disposal but also open up a *new source of income* for the city.
*Elimination of the Old Dumping Ground:*
Garg added that through this process, the *10-acre* Jhuriwala waste dump will gradually be eliminated. The waste disposal plant to be installed by the municipal corporation will be capable of handling not only the daily waste generated but also the old waste accumulated over the years.
*A New Cleanliness Model Through PPP:*
Garg mentioned that this project will be executed successfully in collaboration with a *private firm* under the *Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. The delegation formed under the Indian government’s Swachh Bharat Mission will be invited to observe this **model project*.
*Waste Segregation at Household Level:*
Prem Garg emphasized that efforts will be made to ensure *waste segregation* (wet and dry) at the *household level* itself. For this, every home in the city will be provided with *blue and green bins* to ensure wet and dry waste are not mixed. Separate vehicles will also be deployed for collecting wet and dry waste.
*Plant to Be Set Up as per NGT Guidelines:*
The waste processing plant will be installed as per the guidelines of the *National Green Tribunal (NGT)*, ensuring that Panchkula becomes a completely clean and pollution-free city.
