Mohali : Mohali Municipal Corporation Deputy Mayor Kuljit Singh Bedi has raised serious questions on the Bhagwant Mann led Punajn Government regarding the manipulation and use of force in panchayat elections to make unanimously elected panchayat. Bedi said that the stay on the elections of around 300 panchayats by the High Court proves that the Bhagwant Mann government of Punjab is making a strong use of force in the panchayat elections.
Kuljit Singh Bedi said that every single person who wants election has to go and file a case in the courts against the rigging of the elections and millions of rupees are being spent for this. He said that people are getting justice for this manipulation of the government only by going to the High Court, but due to this, both their money and time are being wasted. He said that the honorable courts themselves should intervene and conduct a high-level investigation into this matter so that no one is bullied. He said that even in Mohali, the government is manipulating and using force for panchayats to have a unanimous vote , so it is very unfortunate and an insult to democracy.
Bedi requested the Punjab government to fight elections in the right way instead of taking such wrong steps, because elections are the right way to form panchayats in a democratic manner, but the Bhagwant Mann government, which is beating the drum to keep democracy alive, should refrain from defaming democracy. He demanded that the Punjab government should conduct the elections properly and in a fair and free manner.
