Mohali : A statue of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur was reinstalled at the bus stand in Mohali after which Deputy Mayor Kuljit Singh Bedi expressed his happiness.
It is pertinent to mention here that the statue had been previously removed for repairs after sustaining damage.
Mohali Dy Mayor Bedi had earlier raised concerns about its removal, to which the authorities responded by explaining that the statue was being repaired. Today, the statue has been reinstated, although work at the site is still ongoing.
Deputy Mayor Bedi expressed his joy at the statue’s return and mentioned that once the work is completed, it will be officially dedicated to the public.
Bedi had previously voiced concerns about the statue’s absence, which led the authorities to take prompt action to reinstall it. Bedi also shared his hopes that the Baba Banda Singh Bahadur bus stand would soon be fully operational.
He further added that he has filed a case in the Punjab and Haryana High Court to reopen a road near the bus stand that was taken over by a company during construction. This road, which was originally a double lane, has been reduced to a single lane, causing frequent traffic jams. He is hopeful that the bus stand will soon be fully functional, benefiting the residents of Mohali.
Bedi also thanked the Deputy Commissioner of Mohali for his efforts in ensuring the statue’s reinstallation and looked forward to the completion of the ongoing work. Once finished, the statue will be dedicated to the public, marking a moment of celebration for the community.
